Gay Movement Emerges in India

Delhi High Court decriminalized gay sex .This verdict came on a plea by Delhi based organization NAZ Foundation, who wokz among de sex workers in Delhi.Angali gopalan of NAZ Foundation said wen they started the movement 8 years ago against section 377 ,which criminalized same sex relationship in the country ,they didn't get much support .Bt now changing attitude of society helped those minority , who suffered harassment throughout their lives .Meanwhile UNAIDS ( the joint United Nations programme on HIV and AIDS) welcomed Delhi courts Historic decision.
15 years ago Bombay hosted India's first gay conference. At that time such meetings were unthinkable in Indian society .That helped gay men to get courage to organise themselves and fight against the discrimination.Bombay city gave gay men mor freedom than anyotr cities n India ,they now organizing gay parties in bars and pubs. Voodoos, a night club in South Mumbai, has a gay night every Saturday.
