South Africa in HIV history

South Africa creates 1500 new HIV infections everyday, more than 85% of them in young women..This alarming increase in new HIV infections in young South African women suggests that poverty plays a significant role in increasing vulnerability to HIV.
Researchers found that women accounted for 90% of all new HIV infections in the 15-24 age group. In the 20-29 age group, women were six times more likely to be HIV positive than men of the same age.People living in crowded slums had 'by far' the highest incidence of HIV,followed by those living in isolated and under-resourced rural regions.
